NASA Natural Events (Wildfires, Storms, Volcanoes and Sea Ice, Last N Days)

eonet/events

Lists natural events tracked by NASA's Earth Observatory Natural Event Tracker (EONET): wildfires, severe storms, volcanoes, floods, sea and lake ice and more. Each event gives its id, title, category, closed date (null while open), the outside source that reported it (id and URL), and dated geometries (each one an observation, with longitude/latitude and, for most, a magnitude with its unit: acres or hectare for fires, knots for storms). days is required and is what separates current from stale: an open event only means no end date was recorded, and most open wildfires have not been seen for over a year. Optionally filter by category, source, status or a bounding box. Attribution: data from NASA's Earth Observatory Natural Event Tracker (EONET). Event records come from third-party sources named in each event; not a NASA product and not endorsed by NASA.
