U.S. Interest Expense on the Public Debt (Monthly and Fiscal Year to Date)
fiscaldata/interest-expense
What it costs the United States to service its debt: the interest expense on the public debt, month by month back to May 2010, with both the month's figure and the fiscal year to date. Rows break the total down by expense category (interest on public issues or on government account series), by expense group (accrued interest, amortized discount, amortized premium) and by security type (Treasury Notes, Bonds, Bills, TIPS, Floating Rate Notes and the rest). Filter to one security type for its history, or take the latest month's full table. Amounts are whole dollars and amortized premium rows are negative. Taken directly from the U.S. Treasury's Fiscal Data API (Interest Expense on the Public Debt Outstanding).
