U.S. Treasury Daily Cash Balance (Deposits, Withdrawals and Closing Balance)
fiscaldata/treasury-cash-balance
How much cash the U.S. government is holding, business day by business day. The Treasury General Account is the government's account at the Federal Reserve, so this is the closest public figure to the federal checking account balance, and it is watched as a read on debt-ceiling pressure and near-term funding. From 18 April 2022 each business day has four rows: the opening balance, the day's total deposits, the day's total withdrawals, and the closing balance. Earlier days go back to October 2005 but carry a single daily balance per account under older account names, with no deposits, withdrawals or closing balance, so a long history needs care. Amounts are in millions of dollars. Taken directly from the U.S. Treasury's Fiscal Data API (Daily Treasury Statement, Operating Cash Balance).

Values may contain spaces and parentheses. Examples: account_type:eq:Treasury General Account (TGA) Closing Balance and record_date:gte:2026-10-01. The account_type names are only those four from 18 April 2022 onward (Treasury General Account (TGA) Opening Balance, Total TGA Deposits (Table II), Total TGA Withdrawals (Table II) (-), Treasury General Account (TGA) Closing Balance); earlier days use older names, so filtering on a current one quietly returns only the recent era rather than an error. Leave empty for no filter. A value that matches nothing returns an empty list; an unknown field or operator is a validation error."
