Species Name Match: Accepted Name, Rank and Classification (GBIF)

gbif/species-match

Matches a scientific name (for example Puma concolor) against the GBIF taxonomic backbone and returns the best match: the accepted scientific name, canonical name, rank, taxonomic status, match confidence and match type, and the classification from kingdom to species with GBIF taxon keys. A name that matches nothing returns match type NONE. Global Biodiversity Information Facility data, served by Eden Engine; not an official GBIF product.
