ITIS Scientific Name Search: Find Taxa and Their TSNs by Genus or Species Name

Searches the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS) for taxa whose scientific name starts with a word, case-insensitively: Ursus matches Ursus arctos, Ursus americanus and their subspecies. Returns each match's TSN, scientific name and author, validity, rank, kingdom, parent TSN and update date, with the total match count, 1 to 50 per page. One word of letters only; a two-word name cannot be searched in one call. ITIS data, passed through unmodified and served by Eden Engine; not an official ITIS product.
