Vehicle Safety Recalls by Make, Model and Year (NHTSA)

nhtsa/vehicle-recalls

The safety recall campaigns NHTSA (the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) lists for one vehicle make, model and model year. Each campaign gives its NHTSA campaign number, the manufacturer, the affected component, a summary of the defect, the consequence, the remedy and the report date (day/month/year). Matching is by make, model and year, not by VIN, so a campaign may cover only some trims or builds of that model: it says which in its summary. A vehicle with no recalls, an unknown make or model, or a year with no data comes back as a validation error, not an empty list. Source: NHTSA, a US federal agency whose data is in the public domain. Not an official NHTSA product.
