Planetary Kp Index, Observed or Forecast (NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center)

swpc/kp-index

NOAA's planetary K-index (Kp, 0 to 9) for the last week, from the Space Weather Prediction Center, one row per 3-hour slot in UTC. Kp measures how disturbed Earth's magnetic field is: 0 to 3 is quiet, 4 is active, 5 or more is a geomagnetic storm (NOAA scale G1 to G5) and brings aurora to lower latitudes. Choose `noaa-planetary-k-index` for observed values with the ap equivalent and the station count, or `noaa-planetary-k-index-forecast` for observed, estimated and predicted slots up to three days ahead with the NOAA G-scale on storm-level slots. Kp is in thirds (1.67 is 2-, 2.33 is 2+) and `time_tag` is the START of the slot, so the newest observed row is up to three hours old.
