Latest Solar Wind Speed, Magnetic Field or Solar Radio Flux (NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center)
swpc/latest-solar-reading
The single most recent reading of one solar quantity from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center: `solar-wind-speed` (proton speed in km/s), `solar-wind-mag-field` (total interplanetary magnetic field `bt` and its north-south component `bz_gsm`, in nanotesla; a southward, negative `bz_gsm` is what drives geomagnetic storms) or `10cm-flux` (the F10.7 solar radio flux in solar flux units, a measure of solar activity, updated once a day). Returns a one-element list with a `time_tag` in UTC. The solar-wind values are whole numbers (rounded from the spacecraft's full precision) and run about 5 to 10 minutes behind real time; the solar-wind time tag ends in Z and the flux time tag does not, both are UTC. Not a time series. Data from the NOAA / National Weather Service Space Weather Prediction Center, a U.S. Government work not subject to copyright. Served by Eden Engine; not an official NOAA or NWS product and not endorsed by NOAA or NWS.
