Places in a State: Population, Housing Units, Area, Coordinates (2010 Gazetteer)
usgazetteer/get-places
A byte window of one state's 2010 Gazetteer place list (cities, towns, villages and designated places): USPS state, GEOID, ANSI code, name, legal/statistical area description code (LSAD), functional status, 2010 population and housing units, land and water area and internal-point coordinates. The window defaults to the first 80,000 bytes of the file (about 400 rows); at most 500 rows are returned. The file is ordered by GEOID with no name search, so a place is found by paging: send range as bytes=START-END, continue at START plus consumedBytes, and expect the first and last line of a window past the start to be dropped as fragments (counted in droppedLines). California's file is 306,314 bytes. U.S. federal statistics data, served by Eden Engine; not endorsed or certified by the data publisher.
