GNIS Populated Place Lookup by Name: State and County (USGS)
usgsnmcarto/gnis-place-lookup
Looks up a United States place name in the U.S. Geological Survey Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) gazetteer's Populated Places layer and returns every match with its state abbreviation and county, up to a limit you set (default 50, at most 200). Useful for telling apart towns that share a name across states. Search is by name only, as GNIS spells it; coordinates are not returned. U.S. Geological Survey data, passed through unmodified and served by Omnial; not an official USGS product.
